A number of local youth helped clean up ditches in Winkler this week.

Youth Leader Dale Broadland with the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church tackled PTH 32 through the city with his small group before moving on to Pembina Ave and other side streets.

"It feels great helping the community," Broadland says.

"It feels like you're part of the community, working with the community," Florian Kopp says.

Youth groups from a number of churches and organizations like the Bunker pitched in to bag garbage on shoulders and ditches along major roads throughout the city on Wednesday.

"I just want to make Winkler a cleaner place," Graham Giesbrecht says.

George Guenther notes there's plenty to clean up along the city streets after winter.

"It's very gross, you don't know what you'll find," Guenther says.
