The people of the Pembina Valley supported the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation last week in a big way, through the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.

All proceeds from the cookies sold at the Winkler and Morden locations last week will go to the foundation. During the week in Winkler and Morden, $40,608 was raised.

"It says that we live in a community that goes above and beyond every year," said Jeff Doerksen when asked what that total says to him, as an owner.  "I don't have words for it. Everybody keeps coming out to support. This is a great cause. Everybody, at some point, will need to use the local health facility and we're just very excited that we had a result like this."

Doersksen said the Foundation did a fantastic job coordinating volunteers to help throughout Smile Cookie Week, and the result certainly supported their hard work.

This year's total raised in Winkler and Morden is up noting last year the total reached $32,000. "So this year we exceeded that. That's always the goal, to do better than last year. And the team at Boundary Trails, our teams at both stores and our communities got together and made it happen. So, thank you to everybody."

It was a great year for the campaign in Carman too. Over $10,000 was raised, up from about $6500 last year.

"It was a great effort by the folks at Cancer Care. Jack and his team came out with a bunch of volunteers. They were out in the community selling cookies, and in the store helping make cookies. So our team. Had a great time throughout the week. They're a great partner and we're thankful to the Carman community for the support."

The proceeds from the Carman location will support South Central Cancer Resource (SCRL).
