Despite some unfavourable weather, thousands still enjoyed the Manitoba Stampede and Exhibition in Morris this weekend.

Pat Schmidtke is the President of the Valley Ag Society, he says the rainy weather didn’t keep people away.

“Thursday and Friday were awesome days, we had lots of people out, the weather was fantastic. Obviously we got a little bit of rain but that hasn’t hampered us at all. We do have a big covered grandstand so people don’t have to worry about getting wet.”

And while Schmidtke says the Valley Ag Society is continually working on upgrades to the stampede grounds, there is one project that took this year’s event to the next level.

“One of the most exciting things that we’ve done this year was, we managed to pull together some sponsorship for some new bucking chutes. Our chutes that were here for the rodeo prior to that had been here from the 70s, so this is a new addition that looks impressive and the cowboys love it.”
