Manitoba Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler says he enjoyed his time working with his former federal counterpart Lawrence MacAulay.

MacAulay has taken over the role of veterans-affairs minister, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Jody Wilson-Raybould.

"I'm sure going to miss him and we did a lot of great things together," said Eichler. "Anytime I needed to talk to the Minister, he was open and always able to take my call and I appreciate that and I'm sure that the new Minister will be just as good to work with as well."

Quebec MP Marie-Claude Bibeau has taken over as federal agriculture minister, becoming the first woman in the position.

"I'm not worried about developing a relationship with the new minister, I'm very comfortable that we'll have a good working relationship," commented Eichler.
