With warmer temperatures and some recent rain, some farmers may be looking to finish up fall fertilizer applications this week.

Manitoba's Soil Fertility Specialist John Heard says the fertilizer already applied should be in good shape.

"I'm thinking that the fertilizer that's been put down, we've had temperatures chill soil temperatures down to, at depth, at about zero degrees. That's not going to warm up a whole lot. It would need to warm up up to 10 degrees or so before we really start to get many transformations occurring that we try to avoid."

Heard reminds farmers that November 10th is when the provincial fertilizer ban comes into place.
