Members of the Winkler Fire Department responded to a pair of heating related fires this past week.

The first resulted in a structure fire Sunday in Blumenfeld.

According to details provided by Fire Chief Richard Paetzold, the blaze started in an exterior wall due to wall heater wiring. It caused an unknown amount of damage.

Then on Monday, members were called to a chimney fire on Road 11 North. The cause was a failed stove pipe connection. The building sustained some smoke damage.

Additionally, a series of vehicle related incidents required the attention of the fire department this past week as well.

On Monday, members were called to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 3 near Boundary Trails Health Centre. Details provided by Paetzold outline the incident did block traffic for a time.

That same day, a call came for a vehicle fire on Highway 32 south of Winkler. A battery heater is being blamed for the blaze.

On Tuesday, members responded to another vehicle fire, this time on Road 3 North. It appears to have started in the dash/engine compartment.

Also on Tuesday, the call came in for a two-vehicle accident on 1st in Winkler

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
