Manitoba Infrastructure reports a road washout southeast of Aubigny will not be repaired by mid-November as originally planned. A section of Provincial Road 246, four kilometres southeast of Aubigny, was washed out in early July because of excessive moisture. Reeve Ralph Groening of the RM of Morris, says a company hired by the province has been doing its best to try and fix the road, but the weather this fall has not cooperated.

Large washout that occurred in July on PR 246.Groening notes the province did provide relief for farmers in the area by gravelling an access road to allow for the harvest to be completed. However, the road closure is still problematic.

"It has and continues to be a problem because Highway #75 is still under repair north of Morris. It creates some constriction and it adds to the traffic congestion on Highway #75."

Groening adds the RM of Morris is asking area residents to be patient in the hope the work can be completed by December 31st.

"That's all that we are asking of our people on behalf of Manitoba Infrastructure. I know they are doing the very best they can to repair that road and I know they will. The delay is just a consequence of this very historic summer and fall's rain and snow event."
