Organizers are calling Monday's Canada Day festivities in Winkler the best attended ever, and Country 88 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner was there for every moment MCing the entertainment stage and working at the Winkler Family Resource Centre booth.

The downtown area was packed with people from across the community and beyond, with estimates pegging attendance over 2,000. The legendary Winkler Co-op $5 Steak BBQ served nearly that number of meals, not to mention the hundreds of families that made their way through the Children's Carnival along Main Street and Mountain Avenue.

The day's entertainment was truly eclectic with a multicultural theme throughout whether it was the African dance/music of Busisi Godfrey, the moves of the Metis Prairie Steppers, the violin music of Bella Musica, or the Johnny Cash tribute of Fun onya Fehr Cash. The line-up was headlined by the fire dancing of Lisa and Stacy, two members of Wildfire. Chris brings you a taste of their show below.

The evening ended with a fireworks display which attracted a big crowd.
