Carman-Dufferin Fire Chief Ben Vanderzwaag supports the idea of a community risk assessment. He has  support from the Town of Carman, and RM of Dufferin councils, and is waiting to hear back from the Office of the Fire Commissioner. Vanderzwaag explains it's a 2 to 3 month process to establish if emergency services are prepared for potential situations in the community.

He adds it's been a number of years since the last risk assessment, and now is a good time to have the upgrade. Vanderzwaag says the fire department is progressing, and they want to ensure their training and resources match the types of hazards in the community.

Vanderzwaag shares the end result will be suggestions for emergency services.
