Winkler's ICON Technologies and two other businesses with significant ties to the community were honoured Thursday night at the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Awards Gala in Winnipeg.

ICON Industries was presented with the Export Award which is granted each year to a company demonstrating excellence in expanding into geographic markets and through significant and sustained export sales.

ICON has exhibited good corporate citizenship, contributing to employment expansion in Manitoba and Canada. CME noted ICON has achieved a certain degree of revenue growth, through regular operations, creation of additional product lines, or the innovation of existing designs.

Dickson Gould, President, of The Progressive Group was given the Hall of Fame Award.

The Hall of Fame Award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the development of their company, and success in their chosen industry.

CME says Gould has had a longstanding career in the livestock production industry, over 40 years. His career includes leading the growth of The Progressive Group to include companies like Winkler Meats, Pioneer Meats, and Rainbow Trailers.

Mitch Tetrault, President & CEO, of Monarch Industries was given the Safety Leadership Award.

It celebrates individuals who have demonstrated leadership in safety and health in the manufacturing industry. In addition, these individuals have a history of advancing safety and health practices within their organization and industry.

Based in Winnipeg, Monarch Industries's Grey and ductile iron foundry is in the City of Winkler.
