Like many growers in the province, harvest season has begun early for a farmer near Carman.

Shawn McCutcheon seeded approximately 2,500 acres of wheat, canola, soybeans, edible beans, and corn this year.

He began combining his Spring wheat earlier this week.

McCutcheon feels earlier seeded crops will yield well and be of good quality, while later seeded fields will have taken a hit from the lack of moisture and excessive heat.

McCutcheon is amazed how well his crops have dealt with the lack of moisture and excessive heat this summer.

He notes his corn and canola are the only two which are showing signs of stress.
