Emerson-Franklin council is forging ahead with a planned renovation of its municipal office in Dominion City.

The building, located on Waddell Avenue, was constructed almost 30 years ago and needs some freshening up, according to Reeve Dave Carlson.

"The municipal office was built in 1990 and it's just starting to show its age. We've kind of outgrown the parameters we have in the office now, so we intend to move some walls around and things like that and try to make the office a little more efficient for everybody. We're kind of cramped in there right now and we want to make it a little easier to work in," Carlson said.

The project is on the municipality's capital projects list and has been incorporated into the 2019 budget.

"We need a formal estimate, but we do have some costing ideas on it, and renovations are never cheap these days, but we intend to do whatever is most economical and make sure we get the best price," he said.

Plans and a cost estimate has been completed for both the interior and exterior renovations to the municipal office building.

The municipality is now moving forward with the formal tendering process.
