Ongoing dry, warm and windy conditions have prompted the Fire Danger Level to be increased to Level 3 in Morden, Winkler and R.M. of Stanley. The Winkler Fire Department and Morden Fire And Rescue shared the news on their respective social media pages Monday morning.

Under Fire Danger Level 3 no controlled burning is allowed, plus burn permits and recreational fireworks permits are cancelled. Meanwhile, safe & supervised use of burn barrels in the R.M. is permitted. Recreational firepits are permitted in

Winkler Fire Department responded to several grass fires over Easter Weekend, as well as a structure fire in Osterwick.

The move to Fire Danger Level 3 comes just a couple of days after the Manitoba Wildfire Service implemented fire and travel restrictions across much of the southwest and eastern regions of the province.
