Last week's soup and pie fund raiser, hosted by Gardens on Tenth, was a record-breaker for the organization.

"We raised over twenty-thousand dollars. We've never raised that much money before," announced board chair, John Falk. "Basically, they ran out of food. We had enough people come through that we were a little short on soup and also on the pies."

"Bascially, they ran out of food. We had enough people come through that we were a little short on soup and also on the pies," added Falk.

Falk added, there was also one fairly substantial donation that came in that evening that helped push them to that total.

This means the Board has raised about $455,000, or 90 per cent of its $500,000 fund raising goal for The Manor renovation project that's been underway since the start of 2023. So far, 13 suites have been fully outfitted with updated flooring and cabinets, and bigger, accessible bathrooms including walk-in showers, and have tenants living in them. Another three are nearly complete, leaving two left to renovate.

"People really enjoy some of the extra space that they're getting with some of the changes we've made," said Falk. "It just makes the room very appealing."

Additionally, some of these suites will be opening to community members on the organization's waitlist.

When all is said and done, and if there's some money left over, Falk says the Board would like to update one suite in The Units, and notes there's an empty space in the kitchen that needs some attention.

Donations for the project are still being accepted.
