Motorists driving along Highway 14 this Wednesday morning between Winkler and Morden may have seen an older style house being moved out of town.

That house will be the newest exhibit on the grounds of the Pembina Threshermen's Museum. PTM president Bill Fehr says they were able to purchase the Edwin Siemens home, located at the corner of Highway 14 and PR 428 back in spring. He says they've been working on it throughout the summer and fall to get it ready to move onto the museum grounds.

Fehr tells us the home has a historic value which is why they purchased it.

"It's a house built in 1919. It's a two-story house which was kind of significant to build in those days since most Mennonites at that time were quite poor."

The home was originally constructed by the Winters family who lived in it for several decades before it was purchased by the Siemens family.

Fehr says the home will require some repair work over the next few months and they hope to have it open to the public by next summer.
