The C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre in Winkler has made good advancements in its goal to match people wanting a physician with a primary care provider.  Clinic Administrator Jim Neufeld says this has been a priority for the last five years.

"There was a time through the significant population growth of the area, (that) I would say we had fallen behind and we hadn't been able to provide everyone that wanted a primary care provider with one," said Neufeld.

Neufeld says in the last year alone they added over 2,000 patients to the clinic that now have a primary care giver.  Neufeld says they work constantly with Manitoba Health program, Family Doctor Finder.

At this point Neufeld said the clinic is still accepting patients, but that's something that can change quickly.  He notes however, they also have agreements with additional care providers to join the clinic in the years to come.

"If there are people out there that are still actively looking for a care provider in the Winkler area they can certainly contact the Family Doctor Finder Program...or they can contact the clinic directly."
