A pair of organizations in Morden and Winkler are getting a share of the Province's recently announced $1.75 million Food Security Fund.

$100,000 is going to the Winkler and District Food Cupboard, and $10,000 to the Many Hands Resource Centre.

Morden-Winkler MLA Cameron Friesen says the Province is pleased to provide this funding to community food banks and local organizations at a time of great need.

"I’m thrilled that this funding will support such important local organizations,” said MLA Friesen. “The work that these groups accomplish in our community is a vital service, especially around the holidays. I am very glad that our government is able to fund this initiative.”

Awards to food banks were in the amount of the original request made by the food banks themselves.

The Food Security Fund will be distributing $1.75 million to 29 organizations across our province. In addition, the Province is providing $3 million to Harvest Manitoba in support of its networks of food banks and soup kitchens in Manitoba.
