Manitoba RCMP has confirmed the identities of the three people involved in Saturday's early morning murder-suicide in the R.M. of Morris.

According to RCMP, 32-year-old Olaf Kolakowski shot and killed his 65-year-old mother, Dr. Anna Kolakowski, a physician at Morris General Hospital. Before turning the gun on himself, police say Olaf shot and injured his 59-year-old father, Mariusz Kolakowski. Mariusz was treated on scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident unfolded around 12:35 am Saturday when Morris RCMP, along with officers from Emerson and St-Pierre-Jolys, responded to a home in the R.M. of Morris, on a report that a 32-year-old man had shot a 65-year-old woman and wounded a 59-year-old man. It was also reported that the 32-year-old male had shot himself.

Officers attended the scene and located the 32-year-old male and the 65-year-old female deceased in the residence.

Morris RCMP, along with Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
