Minnewasta School has added a Vice Principal position as enrolment increases.

The school currently has five modular classrooms and 328 students, though more students are expected as the year continues.

"While our overall numbers are growing, over the last number of years our early years schools have seen disproportionately large growth and we are at the point where Minnewasta school needs additional administration support," Western School Division Board Chair Brian Fransen explains. "We are responding to needs and working with our staff to be as proactive as possible as the community continues to grow."

Korina Peters has been appointed as Interim Vice-Principal, a 0.2 FTE position that will continue for the remainder of the school year.

Peters has been an educator with Western School Division since 1997. She has worked at Morden Collegiate, École Morden Middle School, Minnewasta School, and Maple Leaf School. Over the years she has been a classroom teacher for a variety of grades, a Resource Teacher and most recently a Numeracy Coach.
