The month of April wasn't quite as dry as April of last year, but there's wasn't a lot of moisture last month either.

Environment Canada's Emerson station recorded 3.5 mm of precipitation during April 2018, which made that month the third driest April on record.

A total of 9.1 millimetres fell this past April.

According to Environment Canada meteorologist Robyn Dyck it doesn't appear like there will be any significant moisture this week to change the situation much.

"Right now there is a cold front heading through Alberta and they received a fair amount of snow again, so that will be heading through southern Manitoba late Wednesday and Thursday. There could be a few millimetres with that, but nothing too significant. At this point, it's dry and a few millimetres of precipitation isn't going to really help much."

Dyck said another system is expected to come through southern Manitoba early next week, but it's hard to tell at this point how much precipitation we'll get.

She says, however, based on their seasonal outlook for the next one to three months, our region is still on the positive side of normal precipitation.
