Four people from Long Plain First Nation remain in custody following an armed robbery at the Somerset Hotel Monday afternoon.

Pembina Valley RCMP were called to the scene around 1 p.m. where officers learned that a man and a woman entered the business and, brandishing a firearm, demanded cash. Money in hand, the pair took off in a tan coloured Chevrolet Impala which was later found to have been stolen out of Portage la Prairie.

A search for the suspects began immediately and, thanks to patrols and tips from the public, officers were able to find the car north of Cartwright along Highway 5 after it had hit the ditch.

A 19 year old woman was found inside and arrested.

The 25 year old male driver took off on foot into an adjacent corn field then stole a pick up truck from a nearby home. However, the truck was immediately located by police and stopped with officers arresting the man.

Meantime, further investigation revealed two more robbery suspects.

Again, public tips led officers to Crystal City where a 43 year old man and 25 year old woman were located arrested as well.

RCMP continue to investigate with "numerous" charges pending.
