A Boil Water Advisory continues for Blumenfeld and Hochfeld residents.

Reynold Funk, Blumenfeld-Hochfeld Water Co-op Board Chair, explains excessive water usage during the current hot, dry spell has drawn down the reservoir, prompting a voluntary water usage restriction on all non-essential purposes (watering lawns etc.) on Friday.

However, he says the level dropped so low the pumps had shut down to prevent burning out.

"That, of course, dropped the water pressure to zero or no flow. Provincial regulations dictate the issuing of a boil water advisory in those circumstances, as any tiny leak that might exist could now leak backwards into the system potentially bringing in serious contamination.

In consultation with the Senior Regional Drinking Water Officer, Funk says the decision was made to keep the Boil Water Advisory up until they can get proof-of-non-contamination samples tested today and tomorrow.

If the samples come back clear, he says they will be able to lift the Boil Water Advisory late Wednesday or Thursday.
