Officers with the Winkler and Altona police services teamed up Saturday to find a man reported to be walking on Highway 14 near Plum Coulee during the early morning hours.

The report indicated the man had nearly been struck by a vehicle, and that he was covered in blood.

Police found the suspect, who they say was "very intoxicated", just west of Plum Coulee. The man explained he had been at a rural house party that night when he got into a fight with an unknown assailant. The officers transported him to hospital to get checked out.

Ultimately, officers learned there was an outstanding arrest warrant for the man related to an assault on a woman in August 2019. He was arrested and released with a future court date.
