Morden Fire Rescue responded to a small fire at Morden park Friday night. Chief Andy Thiessen tells us the call came in between 8:30 and 9 p.m., and when they arrived they found a pile of leaves smoldering in the corner of one of the picnic shelters.

A local resident called after seeing several youth running away from the shelter. Thiessen says there was little damage because they were able to get there soon enough before the fire really got going. Morden Police are now investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a 66 year old female suffered minor injuries to her leg after a vehicle-pedestrian collision Sunday afternoon in Morden. Morden Police, Fire and Rescue, and paramedics responded to the scene around 12:30 at the corner of 2nd Street and Wardrop Street.

Investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing Wardrop Street on 2nd Street heading north. A vehicle was stopped at the stop sign on 2nd Street, and the driver failed to see the pedestrian crossing the street. The vehicle proceeded to turn east onto Wardrop Street running into the pedestrian.

The female was transported Boundary Trails Health Centre for further examination, and was released. No charges are being laid as a result of this incident.
