Hydro customers in Winkler affected by a power outage this morning have been switched over to an alternate power supply while crews work to fix a damaged pole.

According to Manitoba Hydro, 87 customers were left in the dark around 10:30 a.m. thanks to a pole fire near North Railway Avenue and Hwy 32.

However, about 28 customers will be out of power until about 6 p.m. today so crews can safely make repairs. A hydro spokesperson says in order to fully restore power to the area, a transformer needs to be taken down and a new pole installed.
