The City of Winkler has chosen someone to run this October's civic elections.

C.A.O. Vince Anderson has been appointed senior elections official.

Anderson says he's been a part of every elections and referendum in Winkler for the past 11 years.

He is in charge of making sure the election process is run according to legislation, appointing other election workers, and making sure all candidates are elected according to legislation.

Anderson says nominations will be accepted at the Civic Centre starting September 13th.

He says if there are enough nominations to require an election, it would take place October 25th.

Mayor Neil Schmidt recently made the announcement he will not be running for another term as mayor.
