Providence University College and Theological Seminary at Otterburne is on a roll. Dr. David Johnson, the school President, says they were able to report a lot of good news at the board's annual meeting late last month. For one thing, enrollment is the highest it has been since 2009.

"Our enrollment is up significantly (this fall), 8 per cent in the University College, 4 per cent in the Seminary. Overall it's up 5 per cent."

Providence has about about 500 students on campus. Johnson adds Providence has also recorded a surplus in its budget for three straight years, something he credits to diligence by all involved.

"I think we're being very careful, in terms of our expenses, and we've just grown a little bit and we've also received some substantial donations, which always helps."

Furthermore, Johnson says their 'Impact 2020' campaign has reached $9.9 million out of the goal of $12.5 million. Money from the campaign is being used to enhance facilities, add programs, improve scholarships and nurture professional development.

Johnson says all of these positive developments can be credited to a very strong team at Providence.

"It does feel really good. I have a tremendous set of leaders on my cabinet and also our board is behind us 100 per cent and very active and we have great faculty and staff."
