Travellers driving along Highway 75 will notice a significant amount of construction work underway along the major thoroughfare.

About a mile of the northbound lanes from the U.S. border to PR 243 is being reconstructed, which includes improvements to the intersection at PR 243 and reconstruction of PR 200 to the east of Highway 75.

Concrete repairs are being made to the southbound lanes at various locations and work on replacing the culvert at Kronsgart Drain continues.

Concrete reconstruction work has also begun on the northbound lanes from north of St. Jean to Morris, which includes raising the elevation of those lanes to 2009 flood levels.

Construction will also begin on a flood detour which involves paving gravel road PR 246 to RTAC standards to allow for heavy truck traffic. The alternate passage will allow traffic to be rerouted around sections of Highway 75 that are most prone to flood closure. The route will run from PTH 23 east of Morris to PR 205 near Aubigny.

The province has earmarked $16 million to create the flood-proof alternate route to PTH 75 and $50 million overall has been allocated for this year's construction work.
