Reports of two different scams were received by Morden Police last week.

In the first reported scam, an adult male received a social media request to friend an unknown person.

Shortly after he accepted the request, he received a text message telling him that the person had an inappropriate video of the male and that the video would be posted unless they received money.

The male sent $500 through Western Union and is currently out that money.

Police advised the man to cancel all accounts and change all of his passwords.

In the 2nd scam, a female was attempting to sell university books online, and after receiving an email from someone interested in purchasing the books, a purchase agreement was made and a cheque sent in the mail.

The scammer instead sent an image of the cheque for a larger amount, and requested an e-transfer back for the remainder.

The female seller did as requested and is currently out that money.

A Morden resident is out four semi-truck batteries after they were stolen from the back of a trailer. The theft of the four Deep Cycle batteries happened last Thursday while the trailer was parked in the 200 block of 6th Street.

The value of each battery is approximately $150.

Later the same day, police received a call from a female reporting that her grey and black Supercycle mountain bike and a black BMX bike were stolen from her residence in the 100 block of 15th Street.

She also stated that the mat of her trampoline was sliced in half.

Meanwhile, around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Morden Police were dispatched to the Morden Collegiate for reports of a vehicle driving around the school's running track.

Police located the truck in the parking lot with a group of teenagers around it. The driver, who was a youth, was identified and several cans of Twisted Tea were located in the vehicle.

The male was issued a ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237.
