The Morden Thunder are Zone 4 High School Hockey League champions. Acoyen Fehr scored both Morden goals as the Thunder shaded Portage Collegiate 2-1 and swept the best of three final in two straight. Alex Van Deynze had the lone goal for the Trojans. It’s Morden’s first Zone 4 championship since the 2016-2017 season.


The Winnipeg Jets lost 3-0 to the Boston Bruins at Canada Life Centre. Jeremy Swayman made 35 saves in recording the shutout for the Bruins who won their NHL best 51st game of the season. It was the fourth time the Jets have been shutout this season and all four have been at home.


Garden Valley boys will meet Neelin and Sanford girls will take on College Beliveau in the semifinals at the Provincial AAA High School Varsity Basketball Championships in Thompson. Yesterday the Zodiacs beat Leo Remillard 100-66 while the Sabres downed St. James 53-47. Rosenort will face Carman in the AA girls semifinals in Souris. The Redhawks beat Immanuel Christian 75-37. The Cougars shaded Warren 62-58. Westpark lost 84-67 to Prairie Mountain and will meet Immanuel Christian in the AA boys consolation semifinals in Virden. Elm Creek lost 83-42 to Gilbert Plains/Grandview and will take on Kings Knights in the consolation semifinal at the A boys championship in Grandview.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced the signing of American quarterback Billy Hall, American defensive tackle O’Bryan Goodson, American receivers Manasseh Bailey Tre Turner, and National defensive back Jordan Veltri.
