Miller girls will meet Linden Christian, Sanford girls face Neelin, Garden Valley boys will take on Louis Riel and Northlands Parkway boys will meet Steinbach Christian in the quarterfinals at the Provincial AAA High School Varsity Volleyball Championships in Dauphin. Rosenort will face Morris in the quarterfinals at the AA boys championship in Ile des Chenes. Rosenort lost out in the quarterfinals at the AA girls championship in Lac du Bonnet. Green Valley of Grunthal swept the Redhawks 25-20, 25-16. St. Paul’s went 0-4 in the round robin and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Elm Creek will take on Pointe des Chenes in the quarterfinals at the Provincial A boys championship in Fisher River.


The Morris Mavericks and Pembina Tigers were winners in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League. Hayden Peters scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Morris past Morden 3-2. Owen Maynard also scored for the Mavericks. Vance Olson and Carter Dyck replied for the Thunder who led 2-0 after the second period. Brad Sloane had two goals and two assists as Pembina beat Miller 5-3. Max Jago, Anthony McKay and Ty Vigar also scored for the Tigers. Reece Fehr, Griffin Hildebrand and Tyson Froese did the goal scoring for the Aces.


The Winkler Flyers lost to the Virden Oil Capitals at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Former Pembina Valley Hawk Roux Bazin scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Caps past the Flyers 5-4. Zach Nicolas and Spencer Shugrue scored two goals each in regulation for Winkler.


The Pembina Valley Twisters dropped a 4-2 decision to River East. Ryan Orchard and Max Collet did the goal scoring for the Twisters. Royal Knights netminder Ashton Howarth made 45 saves.


Brett Hyland had a hat trick and Rylan Roersma had two goals and an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings opened their eight-game homestand with a 7-1 victory over the Regina Pats. Roger McQueen and Matteo Michels also scored for the Wheat Kings. Carson Bjarnason made 32 saves in net for Brandon.


Jeff Malott and Dominic Toninato each had a goal and an assist as the Manitoba Moose doubled up on the Rockford IceHogs 4-2.
