The South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League’s regular season schedule ends today. The Portage Islanders host the Morden Bombers; the Altona Maroons take on the Northstars in Ile des Chenes and the Winkler Royals face the Mercs in Warren and the Altona Maroons take on the Northstars in Ile des Chenes. The Royals, Red River Wild and Notre Dame Hawks were winners on Saturday. Aaron Lewadniuk had two goals and two assists as Winkler downed Carman 6-3. Tanner Mole had a pair of goals for the Beavers. Nathan Ayotte scored the only goal of the shootout as the Wild shaded the Mercs 3-2 and Connor Hamonic scored 2:02 into overtime to lift the Hawks past Portage 3-2. The Islanders (15-1-1) have clinched first place. Warren (11-4-1-1) is one point ahead of Morden (11-5-0-1) in the race for second place. Red River (9-5-2-2) and the Ste. Anne Aces (10-6-0-2) finished tied for fourth with 22 points each and will meet in the opening round of the playoffs. Notre Dame (9-7-2) is in fifth place, one point ahead of the Northstars (9-7-1) and the Royals (7-8-2) will finish in the eighth and final playoff spot and face Portage in the quarterfinals. Carman (4-14) and Altona (2-14-1) were eliminated from playoff contention.


Max Jago had two goals and two assists and Karson McKay stopped all 20 shots he faced as the Pembina Tigers defeated Northlands Parkway in the lone Zone 4 High School Hockey League game.


Cedrik Robidoux scored the shootout winner as the Pembina Valley Hawks shaded the Eastman Selects 4-3 in Beausejour. Ty Love, Nate Lodewyks and Sebastien Hicks found the back of the net in regulation for the Hawks.

 

Pembina Valley dropped a 5-1 decision to the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League leading Winnipeg Ice. Marissa Fehr had the lone goal for the Hawks.

 

Former Brandon Wheat King Jake Chiasson scored the go-ahead goal 3:21 into the third period as the Saskatoon Blades edged Winnipeg 3-2. Connor McClennon potted his 29th and 30th goals of the season for the Ice.

 

Zach Sanford scored twice including the overtime winner as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated Manitoba 5-4. Kristian Reichel had a pair of goals for the Moose who led 2-1 and 4-2 at the period breaks.
