Kerri Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Brianne Meilleur will play for bronze at the 2022 World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George. The three-time Canadian champions lost 9-6 to EunJung Kim of Korea in the semifinals. Team Einarson will face Anna Hasselborg of Sweden in the bronze medal game. Kim will meet two-time defending world champion Silvana Tirinzoni of Switzerland in the gold medal game.

 

Manitoba champions Jordon McDonald and Tansy Tober and finalists Aaron Van Ryssel and Morgan Maguet are competing at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Stratford, Ontario. McDonald is 2-0, Van Ryssel, Tober & Mageut are 1-1 after day one.

 

The Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice were both winners on Saturday night. Rylen Roersma scored twice and Chad Nychuk and Nolan Ritchie each had a pair of assists as the Wheat Kings downed the Pats 5-2 in Regina. Jack Finley recorded a hat trick and Owen Pederson had three assists as the Ice beat the Prince Albert Raiders 6-2.

 

The Manitoba Moose were blanked 4-0 by the Rockford IceHogs. Mitch Gillam made 38 saves in recording his first career AHL shutout. Manitoba netminder Arvid Holm stopped 23 shots.
