The Winnipeg Jets dropped a 3-2 decision to the Flyers in Philadelphia Tuesday night. James van Riemsdyk scored the go-ahead goal at 15:51 of the third period. Kyle Connor potted his team leading 25th goal of the season for the Jets who head into the All-Star break with an 18-17-7 record.

 

The Canadian Women’s Hockey team will play its preliminary round opener tonight (10:10 p.m.) against Switzerland at the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing. Three Manitobans are on Team Canada’s roster and they include defensemen Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne & Ashton Bell of Deloraine and goaltender Kristen Campbell of Brandon. Mixed Doubles curling also begins tonight as John Morris and Rachel Homan face reigning world champions Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds of Great Britian at 7:05 p.m.

 

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms on a one year contract extension with defensive back Winston Rose. The California native led the CFL in interceptions during the Bombers Grey Cup championship season in 2019. Rose spent most of 2020 on the Cincinnati Bengals practice roster. He was released by the Bengals this past September, joined the Bombers and started the final three games of the regular season schedule and both the Western final and the 108th Grey Cup.
