As part of the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge, the Winkler Community Foundation encourages everyone to donate between Nov. 13 – 19.

Myra Peters joined the Morning Show to talk about how it's always a good idea to support the Winkler Community Foundation, but this week every gift will be stretched by The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government.

Specifically, the Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government are each providing a maximum stretch of $2,000 per foundation. Each Foundation can receive up to $4,000 in stretch funding when they raise a minimum of $10,000.

Fourteen local businesses have also committed to being stretching sponsors up to $2000 each. Winkler’s stretching sponsors include the City of Winkler, Triple E, Kroeker Farms, Southern Potato, ProTec Plumbing and Heating, Heat Master, Sunvalley Tire, Parkland Place, Serious Marketing, Access Credit Union, Elias Woodwork, Jim Smith Accounting, Winkler Concrete, and Green Valley Equipment.

Meanwhile, in Morden, Décor Cabinets Ltd. commits another $6,000 stretch fund. This generous donation means that the first $10,000 gifted to the Morden Area Foundation will be stretched to $20,000. Your gift will be doubled.

Also participating in the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge this week are the Altona and Plum Coulee Community Foundations.

Donations to a community foundation are pooled and permanently invested. Gifts are never spent and the money will always stay in the community. Every year, these investments generate money that is distributed to support local charitable needs. Community Foundation’s provide local support that lasts forever.
