The countdown is on for the Altona Curling Club's Team Zacharias as they get set to represent Manitoba for the second consecutive year at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships.

Happening January 18th through 26th in Langley, B.C. skip Mackenzie Zacharias, Third Karlee Burgess, Second Emily Zacharias and Lead Lauren Lenetine will  be looking to build on their appearance in 2018.

This is the first time this group of four has played at the Canadian Juniors together after Lauren and Karlee joined the team in the off-season. Lauren is from PEI, and Karlee is from Nova Scotia, and both have played together the last couple years, and moved to Manitoba during the off season to attend school and join Mackenzie and Emily to curl.

A send-off for the team was held last night at the Altona Curling Club, and I had the chance to chat with sisters Mackenzie and Emily before they were piped in to the party. I asked Mackenzie how it felt to be heading back to Canadian Juniors for the second year in a row.

Chris also spoke with Karlee and Lauren about what it's been like meshing with a team that features two members who have not only played together for years, but are also sisters.

Congratulations on having this opportunity once again, and we’ll all be cheering for you back home! Team Zacharias flies out Thursday, and its first game is Saturday.
