151 days after captain James Van De Velde raised the Jack McKenzie trophy high into the air after Pembina Valley rallied for a memorable 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the St. James Canucks in the seventh and deciding game of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League final, the Twisters unveiled their 2018-2019 championship banner Saturday night at the Morris Multiplex.

The defending champs then started the 2019-2020 season with the same result they got five months earlier.

Travis Penner scored three times and Martin Gagnon made 15 saves as the Twisters won their home opener 6-0 over the River East Royal Knights.

Jordan Keck, Sven Schefer, Wyatt Sabourin also scored for Pembina Valley.

The Twisters outshot the Royal Knights 52-15.
