Umpire in Chief for Winkler Minor Baseball, Brad Fehr, joined the Morning Show in anticipation of the 2024 baseball season. Baseball Manitoba is always looking for more umpires to offer their time at minor ball games across the Pembina Valley.

Fehr said they want to get more young folks certified to umpire games.

"We've got to get more kids that are eager to get on the diamond and learn a new skill. We need to get them the skills and the knowledge that they need. So they'll be coming to these clinics and learning from the certified clinicians from Baseball Manitoba."

These clinics are open to anyone 12 years and older. The first one is happening in Altona on April 13th, followed by Carman on the 20th, Winkler on the 27th, and Morden on May 4th.

Participants will leave the clinic with either level one or level two certification depending on their experience level and thus be certified to umpire games for this season. Fehr talked about how a season looks for an umpire.

"You can schedule yourself as busy as you want! Typically, I'm doing over 60 games a year. You can definitely keep yourself busy."
