UPDATE: Morden Fire & Rescue has determined the cause of Friday's house fire was a BBQ set too close to the home.

Fire Chief Andy Thiessen says crews were able to get control of the blaze shortly after arriving at 6:30 p.m Friday evening.

While there was significant damage to the structure, he notes the fire was mostly contained to the roof.

The family was able to safely evacuate the home and there were no injuries reported.

However, Thiessen notes neighbouring houses did sustain minor damage from the heat.

"It's a good reminder to keep your BBQ away from the house and clear of any awnings," Thiessen says.
