Friesens Corporation continues to invest back in to the community through its Employee-Directed Giving Program.

The initiative sees each employee vote for which local organizations they felt would benefit the most from Friesens charitable giving. The donation amount is correlated to the number of votes the recipient organization received.

The latest instalment, totalling $2,650, has been donated to Blue Sky Opportunities.

According to Richard Neufeld, general manager at Blue Sky Opportunities, the money will be used to install ceiling tracking in the 212 Residence washroom. Ceiling tracking is used to attach an electric lift to, which allows staff to transfer people from their wheelchair to the bathtub or shower.

In a news release from Friesens Corp., the company noted one of its core values is to help build a stronger community by investing through both cash donations and by supporting employees as coaches, youth leaders, fund raisers, and many other important volunteer roles. The company says it sponsors numerous initiatives every year from the local level to the national level that focus on literacy, culture, education, environment, history, care, and recreation.

“We are proud to be associated with Blue Sky Opportunities and the services they provide to both their clients and the community. Altona is a better place because of Blue Sky," said Chad Friesen, President and CEO of Friesens Corporation.
