The public library continues to be popular place for residents in the Pembina Valley.

That can be seen in the circulation of material being tracked by the South Central Regional Library.

In 2006, the library loaned out over 264,000 items, including books, magazines, videos and other information services.

Circulation at the Winkler branch last year totaled 116,922, Morden 79,619, and Altona 67,784.

Visitations hit the 132,000 mark.

A total of 21,000 patrons used the library for Internet service.

Mary Toma heads up the South Central Regional Library with branches in Winkler, Morden and Altona.

Toma expects usage of their library system will continue to expand in the years ahead as people continue to source information through their facilities.
