Seeding may be a little later than some years, but one Emerson-area farmer isn't too concerned.

Larry Neumann expected to wrap things up Tuesday by getting the last of his canola in the ground.

"We always have issues with floodwater and ground being under river water, but that's coming along. (As for) moisture, the top is very dusty and then a few inches down it gets pretty mucky," he said.

While Neumann says it did freeze overnight Friday in the area, he isn't too worried about damage.

"I didn't have any susceptible crops out of the ground yet. My canola was still the bag at the time and the beans aren't up yet," he explained.

Looking ahead, he noted a nice rain would help to soak the top layer of soil and get things off to a good start.
