It's been a challenging time for many businesses after the closures caused by COVID-19.

With restrictions easing up and Phase-three of the province's reopening on the horizon, the Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce (WDCC) held it's Member Appreciation BBQ Friday. Board chair Darren Heide says they haven't had many opportunities to connect with members, with many of their gatherings and events had to be cancelled because of COVID-19.

"Understanding the struggles many of our members have been facing, it was so important for us to show our appreciation for them."

Heide adds although it was a challenging spring, many members are positive about what lies ahead.

"There's certainly a feeling of optimism as things are starting to open up. The weather is better, and you can get out more and see more people."

He says it's important to remember to follow the health guidelines and practice physical distancing to ensure the province can continue to move forward towards phases-four, five, and onward.
