This Tuesday (April 23), Taylor Swift fans, also known as Swifties, will have a chance to come together to celebrate the new Taylor Swift album.

Winkler Library clerk and Swift fan, Kelly Robertson tells us why they have decided to give “Swifties” a night to celebrate.

“I've been a fan Taylor Swift for a long time. It's just been so fun seeing the Eras Tour and the concert video take over the world in the last year or two. We just thought it would be a fun way to tie it into our community.”

Robertson says that there are many fans in our community that are not able to enjoy the concert personally, so this gives fans an opportunity to come together in a different way. She also notes that this evening can really be for anyone.

"We have a lot of young folks coming. We have a lot of the older folks coming, and a lot of parents and kids coming together. It’s really for everyone.”

At the event, the new Taylor Swift album, The Tortured Poets Department, will be playing in the background as they make bracelets together.

"We will be making friendship bracelets. We've got a whole ton of supplies and a bunch of different options. We're also featuring a Lavender Haze drink [inspired by the song Lavender Haze]. It’s blueberry lemonade, with lavender in it if you want that. It looks good and tastes good too.”

Robertson says that the Winkler Library, as well as all libraries in the South Central Regional Library family, are always working on creating new and fun ways to bring the community together.

“Often people think of a library as just a place that has books, but we really do strive to be more of a community center. We have programs for people of all ages. We have monthly book clubs, a big summer reading program that many kids love, and various crafting and knitting programs. We also started at a nerf club in the library. We always have something new going on.”
