Residents evacuate safely in early morning garage/house fire in Graysville
Residents of a Graysville home were able to evacuate safely after a fire broke out in the garage early this morning. Around 1:46am, Carman Dufferin Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a garage fire in the community. When firefighters arrived, they found the garage fully involved, with extension into the house. A quick offensive attack brought the fire under control, and a large portion of the structure was saved. Firefighters were also able to locate a missing cat, unharmed, and returned him to the owners. Tankers were called in from Miami, St. Claude and Elm Creek to ensure an adequate water supply. According to information posted on the department's social media, the residents were alerted by the home's smoke detectors, which the department credits for there being no injuries or loss of life even though this was a major fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
