Lakeside Fall Fest: A free afternoon of inflatables, wildlife presentations, and a hot dog eating contest
Lake Minnewasta is set to shine in early fall as families gather for the second annual Lakeside Fall Festival on Saturday, September 13, from 1:00–6:00 p.m. Organized by the City of Morden, the event aims to pull folks outdoors and back to a place many love as the leaves begin to turn. What to expect City of Morden Event Coordinator Trisha Hoeppner says the afternoon is packed. “It's gonna be a great day. There'll be food trucks; mini doughnuts [and] cotton candy... and there's a hot dog eating competition.” Hoeppner adds that the community is already pitching in, with a donated grand prize of a Pitboss Smoker. Competitors must be adults, “And the age limit is 18." Entries are still welcome. Inflatables and activities return in a big way with jousting and human hamster ball races. Hoeppner’s also “bringing back the barrel train,” which was a huge hit last year, plus face painting, a 25-foot wall climb, a retro seven-element obstacle course, and axe throwing. Education meets curiosity with two wildlife presentations during the afternoon.
