Two friends are turning lemons into lemon-aid for CancerCare Manitoba
Aria Enns and Eve Sukkau are teaming up this weekend to hold a lemonade stand in support of CancerCare Manitoba. If that sounds familiar, it’s because this isn’t Aria’s first go around. Last summer, Aria and her brother Oakley ran a lemonade stand to raise money for South Central Cancer Resource. That time, neighbours joined in to bake cookies and support their efforts, and Aria said that presenting the $150 donation, “Felt good in my heart because it was a good thing to do for everybody that has cancer.” Oakley added at the time, “I felt really good, because my grandma's had it before and she's had to go there to get a wig and stuff.” Related stories: The number is in: Nearly $80,000 raised at ‘emotional’ SCCR event New venue, record ticket sales and amazing support for SCCR Fashion Show A new summer, a new stand Now, Aria is continuing her fundraising efforts with Eve by her side. This year’s stand will run Saturday and Sunday at 660 Merlin Drive, and is once again to raise money for the cause. “My grandma had cancer three times, and she's went through it, and my great grandma’s right now fighting cancer in the hospital,” said Aria. Eve is also bringing her own motivation to the table. “For my friend Everley's grandma, who passed away from cancer.” The girls are offering more than just lemonade and cookies this time around. “We're selling slime, cookies and lemonade,” Aria explained, noting she’s made the slime herself. Visitors can expect 150 cups of lemonade prepped and ready to go, chocolate chip cookies, and her homemade slime, all available by donation. For Aria, the reason behind it all isn't all that complicated. “So more people will be helped.” Sometimes, it's just that simple.
