Sage McElroy-Scott, who graduates out of the Pembina Valley Hawks program after this season has committed to play at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) next season.

"It's really exciting," said McElroy-Scott. "I was really nervous in picking a school for next year, but I'm just so glad I have the opportunity."

Meanwhile this season McElroy-Scott is hoping to defend her teams Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) championship title.

McElroy-Scott is the captain of the Hawks squad this year and is currently the second-leading scorer for the Pembina Valley Hawks. She's scored 12 goals and recorded 10 assists in 14 games and last year she finished as the team's leading scorer.

The UNB Varsity Reds women's hockey team will be returning to action for the 2018-19 season.

"We're very excited to bring Sage on board for next year," said Sarah Hilworth, head coach of the Varsity Reds. "She possesses a natural instinct for the net and has an intelligence that will allow her to be successful at the Atlantic University Sport level."

During her Hawks career, McElroy-Scott has scored 94 goals and 177 points in 199 games.
