The 2007 Pembina Valley Cougars captured the Portage Cup this past weekend. The team consists of players from Winkler Carman, Holland and Trehernee.

Pembina Valley beat Central Plains 12-1, and the Mountain Moose Drillers 6-1.

This put them in first place overall playing the Southwest Jets in their first playoff game, they ended up winning 4-3 which gave the Cougars a spot in the championship game.

The Jets were determined to make it back to the final and won their next game to meet up with the Cougars again Sunday afternoon.

After an intense game the Cougars edged them 2-1 for the cup.

This wasn't the only tournament the Cougars did well in as they took home third in the Oak Lake tournament earlier in the month as well.
