A local farmer and entrepreneur is adding a custom fruit and vegetable juice press to his repetoire.

"There's no real option for local cider or juice, and there's tons of apples in the area, usually they just fall to the ground," Owner Marcus Wiebe explains.

The Burwalde Juice Co. was created after acquiring a rare industrial juice press, the only large scale press of its kind in the province.

"I feel there's a market there," owner Marcus Wiebe says. "People have apples and they want apple juice."

He notes they have acquired a permit to press fruit and vegetables, with a strict process that includes a regulates Ph levels and a high tech UV pasturation.

"It's important to us that we're regulated," he says.

Customers can bring their fruit to be pressed into juice, with plans to provide juice to local retailers.

While they are starting with apples, Wiebe notes vegetables may be pressed in the future.

"There's lots of opportunities," he says.
